The upgrade to an item allows players to increase the item level for equippable items like weapons, armor and trinkets over a certain threshold. They can be purchased at any upgrader NPC using the appropriate currency.
Slots are used to add upgrade components into equipment to gain attributes and bonuses, as well as other effects. These are mostly slot-restricted, however, there are certain universal upgrades.
Rerolling

However, that is impractical to implement due to how complex is the process of comparing. There is simply not enough space to implement it in a proper manner within the UI.
A script that checks the requirements of an item's upgrade before allowing the item to be upgraded is an alternative solution. Upgrade components can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets. They can also be attached to tools for gathering. Most upgrade components can only be replaced by an Upgrade Extractor. The only exception is the glyphs. These can be salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or the Ascended Salvage tool.
Depending on the type of item, upgrading it could cost Dilithium or gold. In addition, some upgrades require Flightstones or crests. The amount of Flightstones and Crests required to upgrade an item is determined by the level of the item. Blizzard also sets a maximum upgrade level. Upgrades to the highest level are costly, especially when upgrading PvE equipment.
Upgrades to items can alter a weapon's ammunition type or damage die size, alter its operative or unwieldy weapon's property, or alter the requirements for hand use. Some upgrades can even change a weapon's appearance.
Before you make a decision before making a decision, you must consider the cost involved in upgrading an item.
